    Away Meet 7/5, Cary City Meet, USO Collection, TSA Grant, Parent Relays

    Greetings Cary Park Sea Dragon (CPSD) Families!

    Congratulations Sea Dragons on the win against Sunset Ridge! Fast swimming and great sportsmanship were on display! We hope Sea Dragon families enjoy the Independence Day holiday; reminder, No Practice on July 4th.

    Please hop onto the Swimtopia website and sign-up for TWO meets: 7/5 Greystone Away Meet and 7/15 Cary City Meet. The Sign-up Deadline for both meets is TOMORROW, Sunday, July 2nd at 11:30 pm.

    This WEDNESDAY, July 5th, Sea Dragons travel to Raleigh to take on the Greystone Gators! TOMORROW at 11:30 pm is the Meet Sign-up Deadline! Please RSVP if your swimmer will be attending or not attending, indicate relay participation status, and preferred events (if any). Our meet theme is USA! Come dressed and accessorized in your patriotic red, white, and blue! Complete Meet Info Below. Please note, concessions are CASH ONLY; please bring small bills to the meet.

    Cary City Swim Meet will be on Saturday, July 15th. TOMORROW at 11:30 pm is the Meet Sign-up Deadline! Please make sure you sign your swimmer up for the correct session (AM 10&Under; PM 11&Up). Once entries are submitted to meet officials, families will be invoiced for entry fees. Complete Meet Info is posted HERE.

    Sea Dragons are supporting the United Service Organizations (USO) with cards, snacks, and travel toiletries this week. Donations will be collected at the pool from July 3rd to July 9th.

    Reminder, as members of the Cary Park Swim Club, Sea Dragon families are expected to comply with the following club rules:

    1. Swimmers ages 12 and under must have a parent or responsible designee present during swim practices.
    2. Swim team members need to check in and out of the pool when attending practice with a membership key fob.

    High school seniors, take advantage of the TSA Cecil L Williamson Educational Grant! Information and eligibility criteria are HERE. Please note, only TSA reps can submit eligible swimmer applicants to TSA to be considered; the TSA rep deadline is July 20th. Names can be submitted to [email protected].     Sea Dragons Give to USO:

    • Who: The Sea Dragons will partner with the Cary Park Community to collect items for the USO.
    • What: Handwritten notes, individually packaged snacks, and travel-sized toiletries will be collected at the pool, and then sent to the military stopping at RDU on their way to and from their deployment and duty stations. We will send a message of gratitude and appreciation to the members of the military.
    • When: Donations will be accepted Monday, July 3 through Sunday, July 9.

    Cary Park vs. Greystone Away Meet - Evening of WEDNESDAY, July 5th:

    • Meet Registration Deadline: Sunday, July 2nd @ 11:30 pm
    • What: The Cary Park Sea Dragons travel to take on the Greystone Gators
    • Who: Signed-up Age group Sea Dragons Swimmers (Mini Sea Dragons do not swim Dual Meets)
    • Theme: USA - Come dressed and accessorized in your patriotic red, white, and blue!
    • Meet Schedule:
      • 4:45 pm - Set Up Volunteers and Volunteer Check-In Coordinator arrive
      • 5:15 pm - Swimmers and all other Volunteers arrive
      • 5:30-6:00 pm - Cary Park Sea Dragons Warm-Ups
      • 5:45 pm - Judges/Timers/Clerks/TSA Rep Meeting outside the main entrance in the grassy area
      • 6:00 pm - Swim Meet Starts
      • Estimated meet end: Between ~10 pm -11 pm

    • Parking: Parking is limited; the facility lot is reserved for the away team. If the parking lot is full, please park across the street at the church or along Sawmill Road. If parking on Sawmill Road, please be careful with oncoming traffic at this busy time of day.
    • Swimmer/Spectator Seating: The visiting team sits across the pool from the entrance behind the slide.

      • Reminder, all swimmers entered in free relays must stay to the end of the meet.
      • All volunteers scheduled for second shift or entire meet duration, are required to stay to the end of the meet.
    • Parent Relay:
      • Sea Dragon parents interested in swimming 25 yds (1 lap) in our parent relay, please bring your swimsuit/cap/goggles to the meet.
      • Please meet behind the blocks during the older swimmer breaststroke events (parent relays swim after breast and before fly age group events).

    • Concessions:
      • Gator Grill Concessions: Hamburgers, hot dogs, and sometimes pork BBQ sandwiches. Meals include chips and a drink with the option to purchase additional snacks. Current Menu as of 6/5/23. Menu, pricing, and availability are subject to change. Concessions are CASH ONLY; please bring small bills.
      • Food truck: Either Sunset Slush or Kona Ice (both accept credit cards).

      • Pro-tip: All dual meet sign-ups are open. If you know your athletes will or will not attend meets this season, it is easier to indicate if they are attending/not attending now to avoid missing deadlines. Selections can be changed up until the deadline.

      • Family Folders in rubbermaid boxes will be placed out by the pool entry at Wednesday afternoon practices and periodically at other practice times.
      • Please check your family folder to pick up Place Ribbons (1st-6th) for Heat 1 and Relay Events. The final distribution of unclaimed ribbons will be at the End of Season Banquet.
