The Tarheel Swimming Association (TSA) was created to promote and encourage competitive and recreational summer swimming for Wake County youth. To help nurture and maintain interest by older swimmers who have recently graduated from high school, TSA awards educational grants each year. The grants are named after Cecil L. Williamson, a dedicated swimming volunteer.
The TSA will offer 25 - $400 Cecil L Williamson Educational Grants for the 2025 summer. Grants are awarded each season to a random selection of qualified applicants. Only TSA Reps can submit eligible swimmers. TSA reps ensure that the swimmers submitted for the grant meet the requirements listed below AND are willing and able to accept the grant (ie. accepting this grant does not interfere with any type of college scholarship).
Eligibility Requirements:
1. To be eligible, a swimmer or TSA coach must be an entering first year student in a college, technical, business, or other post-secondary school.
2. A swimmer must also have competed in the last two (2) consecutive TSA swim seasons of eligibility and have swum in a minimum of three (3) dual meets in each of the seasons. To qualify as a coach, one must have competed as a swimmer in the two (2) seasons prior to becoming a TSA coach and have swum in a minimum of three (3) dual meets in each of the seasons. Petitions can be made for extenuating circumstances and will be acted upon by the Executive Committee. The year of grant eligibility does not have to coincide with their last season of TSA eligibility.
Submissions will be accepted from June 15 - July 20 at midnight. Names will be randomly drawn on July 21. Winners will be announced via email, the TSA website, and the Tuesday Night Lights blog. Checks will be mailed by early August.
