Cary City Meet - Info and Sign-up

Greetings Cary Park Sea Dragon (CPSD) Families!

It is hard to believe we are in the final month of summer swim season and planning for our Cary City Championship Meet!

The meet signup for Cary City Invitational Meet on Saturday, July 11th @ Scottish Hills is now open to declare if your swimmer(s) will participate. The swimmer sign-up deadline is Monday, June 29th @ 11:30 pm (go into swimtopia just like a normal meet).

Volunteer Sign-ups will be posted after CPSD has a final swimmer headcount and meet officials have assigned our team volunteer positions.

Please read all the information below before signing up for the meet, so you understand the following meet commitments:

    1. All swimmers will need to have a parent volunteer at the meet. Volunteer signups will be available after swimmers have committed and CPSD has been assigned volunteer positions by meet officials.
    2. 10&Unders swim in the morning with a ~6:30ish arrival and 7:00 warmups. Meet session starts at 8:15 am and runs until 12:30 pm.
    3. 11&Ups swim in the afternoon with a ~12:30ish arrival and 1:00 warmups. Meet session starts at 2:15 pm and runs until 7:30 pm.
    4. This is an outdoor meet, and participants must plan for sun and heat. Swimmers will be in the team tent and parents will volunteer in their roles. Plan to bring plenty of water and sunscreen. The rain date is scheduled for Sunday, July 12th. Scottish Hills is known to be muggy and buggy, bring insect spray.
    5. CPSD will be funding the swimmers’ event entry fees. Swimmers 7 and Older can swim up to 3 individual events and 2 relays. Swimmers 6 and Under may only swim 25 yd free and 25 yd back (note this is the full length of the pool). Please note any event preferences and relay availability in the meet signup.

Cary City Invitational Swim Meet will be held on Saturday, July 11th at the Scottish Hills Recreation. All TSA Southern Division teams are invited to participate. There are two sessions: 10 & Unders swim in the morning and 11 & Up swim in the afternoon.

Cary City is an outdoor swim meet with a focus on team spirit. Each team has a team tent decorated with a fun theme. The Cary Park tent theme is MOANA (make waves). Teams hand out goodies to other swim teams - it is a lot of fun! Cary City is an opportunity for swimmers to improve their personal times, and Sea Dragon swimmers are also scored as a team (Cary Park Sea Dragons traditionally place very high).

*** REQUIREMENT for CARY CITY SWIM MEET PARTICIPATION***

All swimmers who participate in Cary City must have a parent volunteer at the meet. This volunteer requirement is separate from the 12 Service Points required at dual meets for team membership. Meet Officials require Cary Park Sea Dragons to send timers, runners, kid pushers, and stroke and turn judges; our team also needs volunteers for set-up, dragon tamers, and breakdown. As a result of this volunteer requirement, the CPSD BOD will be covering meet entry fees for swimmers this year. More information to come on volunteer sign-ups.

Swimmers 7 and Older can swim up to 3 individual events and 2 relays. Swimmers 6 and Under may only swim 25 yd free and 25 yd back (note this is the full length of the pool).

To participate in the Cary City Meet, swimmers MUST be Signed Up by Monday, June 29th at 11:30 pm. Click Here for Sign Up Calendar. This is a very quick turnaround time and coaches need to submit our team entries by the registration deadline. If you miss the deadline, your swimmer may not be able to participate at all (Cary City meet officials set these registration rules, we do not have the flexibility to add last-minute requests).

We hope many of our Sea Dragons will join in this fun team event!
