    Greetings Cary Park Sea Dragon (CPSD) Families!

    Sea Dragons swam fast against Seven Oaks with lots of time improvements (and a few records)! Great first meet swimmers, volunteers, coaches, and parents!

    This Tuesday, June 23rd, Sea Dragons are home facing Scottish Hills! Come wearing your NEON! Complete Meet Info Below.

    Some notes about meet etiquette: Please don’t leave early without checking in with Dragon Tamers. We have designated areas for parents to sit/park/and view, please review the below. Keep the deck clean and help out even if it isn’t your mess. GO TEAM!

    Do you not have enough volunteer points yet? There are a few jobs available for our June 30th, July 7th and July 14th meets. Additional jobs have been opened up for the end of the season, check them out and more will be coming in the next day or so. We need volunteers for the end of season banquet (these jobs are not posted and you must email (email [email protected] if interested).

    Mark your calendars! Cary City Invitational Swim Meet will be held on Saturday, July 11th at Cary Swim Club in Cary. All 50 TSA Southern Division teams are invited to participate. There are two sessions: 10 & Unders swim in the morning and 11 & Up swim in the afternoon. Additional information on how to sign-up coming soon.

    *** REQUIREMENT for CARY CITY SWIM MEET PARTICIPATION***

    All swimmers that participate in Cary City must have a parent volunteer at the meet. This volunteer requirement is separate from the 12-points required at dual meets for team membership. Meet Officials require Cary Park Sea Dragons to send timers, runners, kid pushers, and stroke and turn judges; our team also needs volunteers for set-up, dragon tamers, and breakdown.

    Cary City is an outdoor swim meet with a focus on team spirit. Each team has a team tent decorated with a fun theme. Teams hand out goodies to other swim teams - it is a lot of fun! Cary City is an opportunity for swimmers to improve their personal times, and Sea Dragon swimmers are also scored as a team (Cary Park Sea Dragons traditionally place very high). Please note, 6 & Unders may only swim 25 yards (a full lap) in free and/or back at this meet.

    Cary Park vs. Seven Oaks Home Meet - Evening of Tuesday, June 23rd

    • Meet Schedule:
      • 3:45 pm - Set Up Volunteers and Volunteer Check-in Coordinator arrive
      • 4:45 pm - Swimmers and all other Volunteers arrive
      • 5:00 pm - Cary Park Warm-ups
      • 5:40 pm - Judges/Timers/Clerks/TSA Rep Meeting in the Clubhouse

    ● Swimmer’s Packing List:

    • Swimmers arrive in swimsuits
    • Goggles and cap
    • Towel and warm clothes
    • Foldable lawn chair
    • Full water bottle and snacks; some cash for concessions
    • Card games/books
    • Sunscreen
    • Do NOT bring valuables that may get lost
    • Do NOT bring large electronic devices
    • Parking:
      • Parking is limited in the Cary Pool parking lot and primarily reserved for the away team. Please do not park in any of the close parking spots. Click Here for parking diagram.
      • Please park on side streets (do NOT park on Cary Glen Blvd.). Do not block intersections or driveways.
      • Walk or carpool, if convenient.
      • Please drive slowly and watch for children in the parking lot.
    • Swimmer Seating:
      • All Swimmers will sit on the pool deck by age group. Age Group tents will be labeled. Swimmers are encouraged to bring folding chairs to sit on (there will not be chairs on the deck).
      • Starting on the far left (near blocks) under the pergola begins the 6&Under tent and then age groups increase along the side of the pool under the pergola and wrap around the corner with the oldest age groups last.

      • The Wade and Pool will be closed to the swim team during the meet.
      • The Clubhouse will also be closed during the meet; please use the poolside restrooms.
    • Spectator Seating:
      • ALL spectators and non-volunteers will be seated OUTSIDE of the pool fence. Please bring a lawn chair to sit in.
      • Only swimmers, coaches, and volunteers are permitted on the pool deck. Swimmers will be supervised by Dragon Tamer volunteers on the pool deck. Parents cannot sit with swimmers on the pool deck.
      • Parents should check swimmers out with Dragon Tamers, especially the younger age groups.

    • Spectator Viewing:
      • To view your swimmer’s event, please enter the pool deck and proceed to the View and Go Lane. This lane is for parents with swimmers’ in the pool or in the next heat, and to give a hug/high-five immediately after swimmers finish their race. Parents then exit the pool deck to make room for other parents to view.
      • The Porch is also not available for spectator viewing; the porch is for away team seating.

      • Reminder, all swimmers entered in free relays must stay to the end of the meet.
      • All volunteers scheduled for second shift or entire meet duration, are required to stay to the end of the meet.
    • Parent Relay:
      • Sea Dragon parents interested in swimming 25 yds (1 lap) in our parent relay, please bring your swimsuit/cap/goggles to the meet.
      • Please meet behind the blocks during the older swimmer breaststroke events (parent relays swim after breast and before fly age group events).

    • Meet Reminders: Please keep the deck and grass areas clean; please put trash in bins. Please do not walk in front or behind the tech team table (computer table by the starter); there are cords and tripping hazards and we don’t want anyone to get hurt.

    • Pro-tip: All dual meet sign-ups are open. If you know your athletes will or will not attend meets this season, it is easier to indicate if they are attending/not attending now to avoid missing deadlines. Selections can be changed up until the deadline.

    • Each registered family is obligated to complete 12 Volunteer Service Points over the summer swim season unless you ONLY have a Mini Sea Dragon (0 points) or you ONLY have a 15+ swimmer (6 points).
