Greetings Cary Park Sea Dragon (CPSD) Families!

Less than a month to go until Sea Dragon Swim Season begins! Practices and evaluations start on Monday, May 11th. More information about swim evaluations will be forthcoming (links to sign-ups are not available yet and will go out before the start of the season.

The CPSD BOD is excited to announce our 2026 Assistant Coaches, Lily Hillenbach, Pradyun Nemani, Soren Cornwell, Myra Gupta, and Silas Abraham! These experienced Assistant Coaches are excited to return to the Sea Dragon team as leaders and mentors.

Do you want to get all your volunteer points? Do you want to handle those points mainly in the off-season and with remote duties? The BOD is looking for a new TSA rep to join the squad. This person is our representative on the Tar Heel Swim Association. Reach out to the board for more information! We need 2 reps and this one will be mostly remote and off-season responsibilities (attend a few TSA meetings, send emails about logistics, etc.). Please mark your calendar to join us for a Family Orientation Session on Monday, May 11th from 4:30-5:15 pm at the Cary Park Clubhouse to learn more about meets, volunteering, swim lessons, and Mini Sea Dragons. New and returning families are welcome to attend!

Please remember to register for both the Cary Park Swim Club and for the swim team. Also don’t forget to buy all of your Cary Park Sea Dragons team gear before the start of the season. We have a new store with new looks and a portion of the proceeds go to the team! Sea Dragons Team Store

FAMILY ORIENTATION SESSION:

• New and returning families interested in learning more about the swim team, please join BOD members at our Family Orientation Information Session.
• The session will review practices, swim meets, and volunteer requirements as well as answer parent questions.

SWIMMER EVALUATIONS:

• Coach evaluations are required for 1) All new team members 8 yrs and under, 2) All returning Mini Sea Dragons, and 3) Upon the coach’s recommendation.

• Reminder, swim team evaluations are designed to assess the current skill level of each swimmer; they are not lessons.

CARY PARK SWIM CLUB POOL REGISTRATION:

• All CPSD swimmers are required to have an active Cary Park Swim Club Family Membership.

CARY PARK SWIM TEAM REGISTRATION:

• Early Swim Team Swimmer Registration runs until May 15th 2025.
• Team Registration closes June 1st.
• Note, Cary Park Sea Dragons BOD will confirm that your Family pool membership has been paid before your swim team registration will be finalized.

CPSD TEAM STORE:

• Purchase Spirit Wear - The team store has moved! We have opened a Swim Outlet store where you can purchase T-shirts and other swag, with 15% of proceeds going to the team. Sea Dragons Team Store

SEA DRAGONS TEAM SWIMSUITS:

• 2026 Sea Dragons Team Swimsuits - Swimsuit options, fitting, and ordering information are posted on the Swimtopia team website.

PRE-SEASON SWIM CLINICS & LESSONS:

• Pre-season swim lessons and clinics are offered by local swim teams and schools before the first CPSD practice and swim evaluations (Monday, May 11th).
• Year-round swim teams (MOR, RSA, TAC, etc.) offer swim lessons, as well as swim schools and fitness centers (YMCA, UNC Wellness, PhD Swim School, Triangle Swim School, Aqua-tots, Goldfish Swim School, etc.).
• Swim team evaluations are designed to assess the current skill level of each swimmer; they are not lessons.

IN-SEASON SWIM CLINICS & LESSONS:

• Note, all swim lessons through the CPSD team and CP Swim Club will not start until the Cary Park Pool opens (Saturday, May 10th).
• For CPSD swim team members, swim lessons will be offered by CPSD coaches starting when the Cary Park Pool opens (Saturday, May 10th). Last year’s procedures will apply to team member lessons this summer.
• For non-swim team Cary Park Swim Club members (ex. siblings that are not on the team), lesson information will be forthcoming once finalized by the new pool management company.
