    Greetings Cary Park Sea Dragon (CPSD) Families!

    Sea Dragons swam fast against Scottish Hills Sea Lions and beat the heat in all sorts of creative ways!

    This Tuesday, July 1st, Sea Dragons hit the road for an away meet against the Seven Oaks Marlins!! TONIGHT at 11:30 pm is the Meet Sign-up Deadline! Please RSVP if your swimmer will be attending or not attending, indicate relay participation status, and preferred events (if any). Come wearing your Red, White and Blue!

    We NEED volunteers for the Seven Oaks meet! It’s a holiday week with many families away, and Seven Oaks has a 10 lane pool. If you are attending, regardless of volunteer points or exemption status, please sign up — Timers, Clerks, Dragons Tamers, and Kid Pushers needed across 1st and 2nd shifts.

    As a reminder to all volunteers – please show up ON TIME according to your specific job requirement parameters.

    REMINDER: NO Practice on Friday, July 4th! Happy Independence Day! Enjoy some fun family time and celebrate our nation’s freedoms!

    Calling all High School Senior Sea Dragons! Cary Park Sea Dragons Swim Team offers a Senior Scholarship for applicants dedicated to the team, either as swimmers, coaches, or both, and who have demonstrated a high level of service and commitment. Scholarships are to be used toward post-high school education expenses (college or vocational school).

    To be eligible, an applicant must have:

    1. Swum for the Cary Park Sea Dragons for at least 3 years during his/her summer age group swimming career,
    2. Must have been involved with the team as either a swimmer or coach for at least 3 of his/her high school years, including Senior Year, AND
    3. During his/her Senior year must have attended at least 3 dual meets.
    4. Complete and submit the Scholarship Application by the Monday, July 14th deadline. Please CLICK HERE for scholarship information and application.

    The Board of Directors will consider both seniors' applications as well as observed participation as a CPSD community member.

    • Meet Registration Deadline: Saturday, June 28th @ 11:30 pm
    • What: The Cary Park Sea Dragons visit the Seven Oaks Marlins
    • Who: Signed-up Age group Sea Dragons Swimmers (Mini Sea Dragons do not swim Dual Meets)
    • Where: Seven Oaks Swim and Racquet Club is located at 2500 Howard Rd, Raleigh, NC 27613
    • Theme: Go USA! Red, White and Blue
    • Meet Schedule:
      • 4:45 pm - Set Up Volunteers and Volunteer Check-In Coordinator arrive
      • 5:15 pm - Swimmers and all other Volunteers arrive
      • 5:30-6:00 pm - Cary Park Sea Dragons Warm-Ups
      • 5:40pm - Judges/Timers/Clerks/TSA Rep Meeting
      • 6:00 pm - Swim Meet Starts
      • Estimated meet end: Between ~10 pm -11 pm

    ● Swimmer Arm Markings:

    ○ All swimmers’ arms Swimmers will sit on the pool deck by age group. Age Group tents will be labeled. Swimmers are encouraged to bring folding chairs to sit on.

    ○ Please mark swimmers’ arms prior to event arrival.

    ○ Left Arm: Last Name (written vertically)

    ○ Right Arm: Swimmer Number (written vertically)

    ○ Pro-tip: Use a permanent marker (Sharpie).

    ● Swimmer’s Packing List:

    ○ Swimmers arrive in swimsuits

    ○ Full water bottle and snacks; some cash for concessions

    ○ Card games/books

    ○ Sunscreen

    ○ Do NOT bring valuables that may get lost

    • Parking:
      • “The visiting team should park and enter through the gate at the lower pool (closest to the brown garages and farthest away from the big water slide). Parking spots immediately outside the gate may fill up quickly, but visitors can park anywhere in the Seven Oaks parking lot or on the street and walk to the lower gate entrance. This entrance will lead directly into the competition pool area.”
    • Swimmer Seating:
      • “We have half of the pool deck dedicated to the visiting team. When you enter through the lower gate, head towards the left. Your team may set up their own chairs and tents, but there will also be some tables and chairs for your usage.”

    • Concessions:
      • The snack bar is located at the upper pool. They serve hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, hamburgers, soda, chips, and more. The snack bar takes cash or credit cards.

    SEA DRAGONS OF THE WEEK:

    • Each week, coaches highlight two swimmers from each age group for their work ethic, team spirit, personal improvement, and/or overall sportsmanship.

    • Please keep lawn signs on your lawn to be picked up at the end of the week and displayed for a new SDOTW recipient.
