    Greetings Cary Park Sea Dragon (CPSD) Families!

    Time for the Sea Dragons to get pumped up for our first dual meet this Tuesday against the Seven Oaks Marlins! TONIGHT at 11:30 pm is the Meet Sign-up Deadline! Please RSVP if your swimmer will be attending or not attending, indicate relay participation status, and preferred events (if any). Please read the Complete Meet Info Below for meet schedule, parking, seating, and concessions.

    This month Sea Dragons have THREE Fun Social Events:

    1. Pasta Pump-Up Potluck Party on Monday, June 10th 5:30 pm-7:30 pm at the Cary Park Clubhouse. This is a Potluck event. All attendees, please RSVP and select a food item to bring on the Signup Calendar here. We still have lots of food slots that need to be filled.
    2. Pie the Coaches will be on Saturday, June 15th during swim practices. Swimmers will get the chance to pie a coach!
    3. At their Age Group Parties, swimmers will enjoy pizza, treats, and fun. Please RSVP if your swimmer will attend on the Signup Calendar here.
      1. 10 and Under Party: Wednesday, June 26th 5 - 9 pm
      2. 11 and Up Party: Thursday, June 27th 8:30 - 11 pm

    The kids don’t get to have all the fun! Calling all parents interested in swimming in our Parent Relays to face off against the coaches at our dual meets. If interested, please email [email protected] for more details.

    If you have not already purchased a medal at the time of registration and would like your swimmer to receive a Cary Park Team Medal engraved with their name, please order medals by Sunday, June 16th from the Team Store. To check your medal order status, Click Here for a list of swimmers who ordered at the time of registration.

    Reminder, Sea Dragons of the Week (SDOTW) are recognized with a certificate (to keep) and a lawn sign (to be collected and reused). Please keep lawn signs on your lawn to be picked up at the end of the week and displayed for a new SDOTW recipient. Thank you!

    Cary Park vs. Seven Oaks Marlins Home Meet - Evening of Tuesday, June 11th

    • Meet Registration Deadline: Saturday, June 8th @ 11:30 pm
    • What: The Cary Park Sea Dragons host the Seven Oaks Marlins
    • Who: Signed-up Age group Sea Dragons Swimmers (Mini Sea Dragons do not swim Dual Meets)
    • Where: Home - Cary Park Swim Club, 5353 Cary Glen Blvd, Cary, NC 27519
    • Theme: Sea Dragon Pride - Come dressed in your red and black team spirit wear!
    • Meet Schedule:
      • 3:45 pm - Set Up Volunteers and Volunteer Check-in Coordinator arrive
      • 4:45 pm - Swimmers and all other Volunteers arrive
      • 5:00 pm - Cary Park Warm-ups
      • 5:40 pm - Judges/Timers/Clerks/TSA Rep Meeting in the Clubhouse
      • 6:00 pm - Meet starts
      • Estimated meet end: Between ~10 pm -11 pm (Note, Seven Oaks is a large team, so expect this to be a longer meet)

    Swimmer Arm Markings:

    • All swimmers’ arms need to be marked with their last name and swimmer number for identification.
    • Please mark swimmers’ arms prior to event arrival.
    • Left Arm: Last Name (written vertically)
    • Right Arm: Swimmer Number (written vertically)

    • Pro-tip: Use a permanent marker (Sharpie).

    Swimmer’s Packing List:

    • Swimmers arrive in swimsuits
    • Goggles and cap
    • Towel and warm clothes
    • Foldable lawn chair
    • Full water bottle and snacks; some cash for concessions
    • Card games/books
    • Sunscreen
    • Do NOT bring valuables that may get lost
    • Parking:
      • Parking is limited in the Cary Pool parking lot and primarily reserved for the away team. Click Here for parking diagram.
      • Please park on side streets (do NOT park on Cary Glen Blvd.). Do not block intersections or driveways.
      • Walk or carpool, if convenient.
      • Please drive slowly and watch for children in the parking lot.
    • Swimmer Seating:
      • All Swimmers will sit on the pool deck by age group. Age Group tents will be labeled. Swimmers are encouraged to bring folding chairs to sit on (there will not be chairs on the deck).
      • Starting on the far left (near blocks) under the pergola begins the 6&Under tent and then age groups increase along the side of the pool under the pergola and wrap around the corner with the oldest age groups last.

      • The Wade and Slide Pool will be closed to the swim team during the meet.
      • The Clubhouse will also be closed during the meet; please use the poolside restrooms.
    • Spectator Seating:
      • ALL spectators and non-volunteers will be seated OUTSIDE of the pool fence. Please bring a lawn chair to sit in.
      • Only swimmers, coaches, and volunteers are permitted on the pool deck. Swimmers will be supervised by Dragon Tamer volunteers on the pool deck. Parents cannot sit with swimmers on the pool deck.
      • Parents should check swimmers out with Dragon Tamers, especially the younger age groups.

    • Spectator Viewing:
      • To view your swimmer’s event, please enter the pool deck and proceed to the View and Go Lane. This lane is for parents with swimmers’ in the pool or in the next heat, and to give a hug/high-five immediately after swimmers finish their race. Parents then exit the pool deck to make room for other parents to view.
      • The Porch is also not available for spectator viewing; the porch is for away team seating.

      • Reminder, all swimmers entered in free relays must stay to the end of the meet.
      • All volunteers scheduled for second shift or entire meet duration, are required to stay to the end of the meet.
    • Parent Relay:
      • Sea Dragon parents interested in swimming 25 yds (1 lap) in our parent relay, please bring your swimsuit/cap/goggles to the meet.
      • Please meet behind the blocks during the older swimmer breaststroke events (parent relays swim after breast and before fly age group events).

        • CPSD swim team receives a percentage of food truck sales.
    • Meet Reminders: Please keep the deck and grass areas clean; please put trash in bins. Please do not walk in front or behind the tech team table (computer table by the starter); there are cords and tripping hazards and we don’t want anyone to get hurt.

    SEA DRAGONS OF THE WEEK:

    • Each week, coaches highlight two swimmers from each age group for their work ethic, team spirit, personal improvement, and/or overall sportsmanship.

    • Please keep lawn signs on your lawn to be picked up at the end of the week and displayed for a new SDOTW recipient.

    2024 VOLUNTEER SIGN-UPS:

    • Volunteer Job Sign-ups remain open. Please only sign-up for 12 Volunteer Points.
    • There are many volunteer needs for our 3 Away Meets on June 18th, July 2nd, and July 9th. If your family is attending an Away meet, please consider switching your sign-up shift to help at these Away meets.
    • To view which jobs you have signed up for and how many points you have earned:
      • Log in with your password to the team website.
      • In the top right corner, hover over “Welcome Name” and select My Account from the drop-down.
      • Under My Account, you can view family members, contact info, and volunteer jobs signed up for, and points earned.

      • Each registered family is obligated to complete 12 Volunteer Service Points over the summer swim season unless you ONLY have a Mini Sea Dragon or you ONLY have a 15+ swimmer.

    HOW TO SIGN UP FOR SWIM MEETS IN SWIMTOPIA:

    • Log in with your password to the team website.
    • Under the Meets & Events tab, select "Signup Calendar" to sign up for volunteer jobs.
    • Click the green MEET ENTRY tab, and then click the EDIT tab under your athletes' names.
    • For each of your athletes, select an option from the drop-down list next to their names.
      • Attending
      • Not Attending
    • Indicate swimmer’s relay participation status, select an option from the drop-down list for each swimmer:
      • Available for all relays
      • Arriving late, not available for early relays (medley relay)
      • Leaving early, not available for late relays (free relay)
      • Not available for any relays
    • Provide comments to coach regarding swimmer’s event preferences in the textbox.
    • Click Save to record your choices.
    • Pro-tip: All dual meet sign-ups are open. If you know your athletes will or will not attend meets this season, it is easier to indicate if they are attending/not attending now to avoid missing deadlines. Selections can be changed up until the deadline.
