First Dual Meet, Pasta Pump Up Potluck, Practice Changes, 9&10 Age Group Party

Greetings Cary Park Sea Dragon (CPSD) Families!
Time for the Sea Dragons to get pumped up for our first dual meet this Tuesday against the University Club Psychos! TONIGHT at midnight is the Meet Sign-up Deadline! Please RSVP if your swimmer will be attending or not attending, indicate relay participation status, and preferred events (if any). Our meet theme is Hollywood! Come dressed to walk the red carpet like a movie star or your favorite movie character. Complete Meet Info Below.
Join us at the Pasta Pump-Up Potluck Party on Monday, June 12th 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Cary Park Clubhouse. This is a Pot Luck event. All attendees, please select a food item or supply to bring on the Signup Calendar here. We still have lots of food slots that need to be filled.
PRACTICE SCHEDULES CHANGE THIS MONDAY! Morning Practices begin Monday, June 12th. Afternoon practices have time changes for all age groups and Minis; 7 & Ups’ afternoon practice is also extended to an hour. The 9&10 Sea Dragons Age Group Party is this Thursday, June 15th. 9&10 Age Party Sign-up Deadline is Wednesday, June 14th by midnight. RSVPing is a 2-step process 1) RSVP on the Sign-Up Calendar (click here) and 2) Make separate payment.Payment for attendees ($15/swimmer for food and craft) can be made here. Siblings and parents can also enjoy food ($5/person) with payment made here.
Lastly, if you have not already purchased a medal at the time of registration and would like your swimmer to receive a Cary Park Team Medal engraved with their name, please order medals by the Friday, June 16th Order Deadline from the Team Store.

Practice Schedule Changes Starting Monday, June 12th:

- Morning Practices Begin:
- June 12 through July 21, morning practices will be scheduled Monday through Friday.
- Practices are scheduled on Tuesday mornings before dual meets and on Friday mornings.
- Wednesday morning practices following Tuesday night meets, practice starts at 9 am (7-10 year-olds swimming with 11 and over).
- NO practice on Tuesday, July 4th (Independence Day).
- Afternoon Practice Time Changes:
- June 12 to July 20, afternoon practices will be scheduled Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
- Afternoon practices also have time changes for all age groups and Minis; 7 & Ups’ afternoon practice is extended to an hour.
- NO Tuesday afternoon practices when meets are scheduled.
- NO Friday afternoon practices.
- NO practice on Tuesday, July 4th (Independence Day).

- 3:45 pm - Set Up Volunteers and Volunteer Check-in Coordinator arrive

- 5:40 pm - Judges/Timers/Clerks/TSA Rep Meeting in the Clubhouse
- 6:00 pm - Meet starts
- Estimated meet end: Between ~10 pm -11 pm
- Swimmer Arm Markings:
- All swimmers’ arms need to be marked with their last name and swimmer number for identification.
- Please mark swimmers’ arms prior to event arrival.
- Left Arm: Last Name (written vertically)
- Right Arm: Swimmer Number (written vertically)

- Pro-tip: Use a permanent marker (Sharpie).
- Swimmer’s Packing List:
- Swimmers arrive in swimsuits
- Goggles and cap
- Towel and warm clothes
- Foldable lawn chair
- Full water bottle and snacks; some cash for concessions
- Card games/books
- Sunscreen
- Do NOT bring valuables that may get lost
- Parking:
- Parking is limited in the Cary Pool parking lot and primarily reserved for the away team. Click Here for parking diagram.
- Please park on side streets (do NOT park on Cary Glen Blvd.). Do not block intersections or driveways.
- Walk or carpool, if convenient.
- Please drive slowly and watch for children in the parking lot.
- Swimmer Seating:
- All Swimmers will sit on the pool deck by age group. Age Group tents will be labeled. Swimmers are encouraged to bring folding chairs to sit on (there will not be chairs on the deck).
- Starting on the far left (near blocks) under the pergola begins the 6&Under tent and then age groups increase along the side of the pool under the pergola and wrap around the corner with the oldest age groups last.

- The Wade and Slide Pool will be closed to the swim team during the meet.
- The Clubhouse will also be closed during the meet; please use the poolside restrooms.
- Spectator Seating:
- ALL spectators and non-volunteers will be seated OUTSIDE of the pool fence. Please bring a lawn chair to sit in.
- Only swimmers, coaches, and volunteers are permitted on the pool deck. Swimmers will be supervised by Dragon Tamer volunteers on the pool deck. Parents cannot sit with swimmers on the pool deck.
- Parents should check swimmers out with Dragon Tamers, especially the younger age groups.

- Spectator Viewing:
- To view your swimmer’s event, please enter the pool deck and proceed to the View and Go Lane. This lane is for parents with swimmers’ in the pool or in the next heat, and to give a hug/high-five immediately after swimmers finish their race. Parents then exit the pool deck to make room for other parents to view.
- The Porch is also not available for spectator viewing; the porch is for away team seating.

- Reminder, all swimmers entered in free relays must stay to the end of the meet.
- All volunteers scheduled for second shift or entire meet duration, are required to stay to the end of the meet.
- How to Read a Heat Sheet:
- A heat sheet is a document that lists the order of events at the meet and includes the heat and lane assignments for each swimmer. Coaches, parents, and volunteers use a heat sheet to know who is swimming, when, and where.
- The heat sheet will be made available to families prior to the meet (usually the day prior). With a premium Swimtopia Mobile Subscription, heat sheets are accessible in the app.

REPEAT INFORMATION:
Team Photos and Medals: Order Deadline is Friday, June 16th
- To purchase a team photo or end-of-season team medal, please visit the Team Store to order by Friday, June 16th.
- Reminder, every swimmer will receive a free yearly pin at the banquet. The pin can be added to a year’s prior medal OR swimmers can purchase a new medal each year and add each year’s pin to a new medal. Cary Park medals are engraved with the swimmer's name.
How to Sign-Up for Swim Meets in Swimtopia:
- All Tuesday meet deadlines are set for the preceding Saturday at midnight. Please help Coach Olivia to schedule for meets by RSVPing by this deadline.
- Log in with your password to the team website.
- Under the Meets & Events tab, select "Signup Calendar" to sign up for volunteer jobs.
- Click the green MEET ENTRY tab, and then click the green EDIT tab under your athletes' names.
- For each of your athletes, select an option from the drop-down list next to their names.
- Attending
- Not Attending
- Indicate swimmer’s relay participation status, select an option from the drop-down list for each swimmer:
- Available for all relays
- Arriving late, not available for early relays (medley relay)
- Leaving early, not available for late relays (free relay)
- Not available for any relays
- Provide comments to coach regarding swimmer’s event preferences in the textbox.
- Click Save to record your choices.
- Pro-tip: All dual meet sign-ups are open. If you know your athletes will or will not attend meets this season, it is easier to indicate if they are attending/not attending now to avoid missing deadlines. Selections can be changed up until the deadline. All Tuesday meet deadlines are set for the preceding Saturday at midnight.

How to Review Your Selected Volunteer Jobs and Points Earned:
- Log in with your password to the team website.
- In the top right corner, hover over “Welcome Name” and select My Account from the drop-down.
- Under My Account, you can view family members, contact info, and volunteer jobs signed up for, and points earned.
