    Social Events, Volunteers, Time Trials/Team Photo

    Greetings Cary Park Sea Dragon (CPSD) Families!

    Sea Dragon Swimmers are making a big splash in the pool this week!

    Summer Swim is all about Summer Fun! We have TWO exciting social events THIS WEEK!

    • Dragon Desserts - Starting this Thursday and every Thursday during swim season, swimmers will enjoy a tasty dessert after swim practice! This is a Sea Dragon favorite!
    • Polar Plunge - This Saturday, May 20th is the first Saturday morning swim practice. The water may be chilly for practice, but the swimmers will have fun and stay warm with pancakes and hot chocolate after practice. Join the fun and take the plunge!

    Want to get Volunteer Points even before Sign-ups open?

    • RSVP to VP of Volunteers (Ali Crawford) at vpvolunteerscpsd@gmail.com to sign up for one of the volunteer positions listed below. Positions will be filled first come, first serve.

    Polar Plunge Volunteers Needed

    Saturday, May 20th:

    • Shift 1: 8:00-9:30 am - Set-up, make pancakes, serve pancakes
    • Shift 2: 9:30-11 am - Make pancakes, serve pancakes, clean-up

    Dragon Dessert Volunteers Needed - Hand out desserts and attend to the cooler.

    Thursday, May 18th

    • Shift 1: 5:00-6:15 pm
    • Shift 2: 6:30-7:45 pm

    Thursday, May 25th

    • Shift 1: 5:00-6:15 pm
    • Shift 2: 6:30-7:45 pm

    Swimmer Evaluations are underway! As a reminder, emails will be sent each evening to swimmers that qualify for the competitive team or Mini Sea Dragon team.

    • If parents do not receive an email, please continue to come daily Monday through Thursday (May 15th through May 25th) at your time slot until notified of the final evaluation outcome.
    • For those notified as competitive team eligible, swimmers can begin practice with their assigned practice group the following day.
    • The Mini Sea Dragon team will officially start practice on May 30th. For those notified as Mini Sea Dragon team eligible, swimmers may either continue to come to their evaluation slot for a little water time through May 25th, or can take a break and return to full practice starting on May 30th.

    New/Important Information:

    • 2023 Time Trials and Team Photos - Morning of Saturday, June 3rd
      • Time trials are a mock meet with only CPSD age group swimmers (Mini Sea Dragons do not swim).
      • Time trials are an opportunity for swimmers to practice events and get a baseline time.
      • It is also a great opportunity for parents to learn how a meet is run and learn about volunteer positions.
      • A team photo of swimmers will be taken immediately preceding warm-ups/races.
      • More details on time trials are forthcoming.

    • 2023 Volunteer Sign-ups
      • Volunteer Job Sign-ups will be open Wednesday, May 24th at 7 pm.

      • Each registered family is obligated to complete 12 Volunteer Service Points over the summer swim season unless you ONLY have a Mini Sea Dragon or you ONLY have a 15+ swimmer.

        • For each job, please note shift start and end times (volunteers need to report for entire duration), points assigned, and any additional requirements/training for the job.

    *NOTE: A team, red, or black swimsuit is only required for swim meets. Swimmers may wear any swimsuit color/style they prefer to practice.

    • 2023 TSA Volunteer Training Clinics
      • TSA Mega Clinics and Stroke and Turn Clinics provide volunteer training for the following specialized meet positions: Stroke and Turn Judges, Starters, Meet Administrators, and Coaches.
      • A TSA Clinic will be held at Cary Park Clubhouse on the morning of Saturday, June 10th. For all TSA Clinic dates, times, and locations: Click Here
